“The greatest revolution of our generation is the discovery that human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives.” ~William James

The New Year can be on of the best times to take charge and develop new lifestyle management.

No matter where we look we see another “fabulous” diet. They assure you that you will lose weight and feel better than ever. That may be true- temporarily. Temporarily is the key. Oprah Winfrey was the best example of this when she rolled out a wagon of 67 pounds of fat. She let the world see a vivid example of what an additional sixty-seven pounds of fat looked like by rolling out a wagon full of fat. Oprah looked amazing, as seen in this video clip: http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/oprahs-top-20-moments.vv Within a week of that show, Oprah had already put on ten pounds. It only went up from that point.

If you want to lose weight and keep it off the best way is Behavior Modification nd Physical Activity. This is a method many overlook as it is not as well publicized.

A few of the best ways of modifying behavior for weight loss are:

– self monitoring

-increasing physical activity

– education regarding nutrition and weight loss

Support for weight loss by a therapist trained in behavior modification is one if the most beneficial ways to embark on one’s journey to achieving maximum results. Although with that being said, one has to first really WANT to achieve weight loss goals. Unless one is determined to work hard and follow the modification regimen, it does not work. As with anything “the harder the effort the better the result.”
